Julie Dikos, MSN, RN
Chief Executive Officer
Julie has been with Asheville specialty Hospital since July 2016. Julie has a distinguished 27 year nursing career with particular expertise in clinical operations and nursing management. She received her BSN from Oakland University in Rochester, MI and her MSN from Duke University school of Nursing. During her career, she has served in multiple leadership roles, each with ever increasing levels of responsibility. Most recently, Julie was the Director of Critical Care Service Lines with Mission Health. In this capacity, she directed all aspects of clinical operations for a multifaceted critical care platform which included three intensive care units as well as step-down units, renal and pulmonary departments.
Joie Picker, MSN, RN, PCCN, CNML
Director of Nursing
Joie has been with Asheville Specialty Hospital (ASH) since 2008, and has served in multiple roles within the organization prior to becoming Director of Nursing in 2016. In this role, Joie oversees Clinical Nursing staff, Care Management and Referral Liaisons, as well as Wound Care. Joie joined ASH after working on a Surgical Adult and Pediatric wing of a rural hospital. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Microbiology from University of Central Florida, after which she spent several years working in a genomics laboratory before becoming a Registered Nurse. Joie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Carolina University, where she also earned her Master of Science in Nursing with concentration in Nursing Administration. She also holds national certifications as a Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN), a Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML), and is also a certified BLS/ACLS instructor with American Heart Association. Joie spends her spare time with her family and is an avid artist.
Megan Serzan, JD, Esq.
Director of Quality, Compliance, Risk, and Safety
Megan is responsible for the Hospital’s quality and performance improvement, accreditation, corporate compliance program, risk management, corporate contracting, patient safety, and infection prevention, striving to ensure a safe environment for our patients. She also serves as Asheville Specialty Hospital’s Corporate Compliance Officer and HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer and has oversight of the Health Information Management Department. Previously, she held the roles of Counsel for Patient and Employee Affairs for a regional health system in Gastonia, NC and Corporate Counsel, and later Chief Compliance Officer and HIPAA Privacy Officer for 16 skilled nursing facilities in Tennessee and Kentucky. Megan is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication and Political Science. She also received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville. She is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and Tennessee. In her free time, she serves as the Director of Children and Family Ministries at Francis Asbury UMC and enjoys reading, crafting and spending time with her husband Chris and their two children.
Will Rodgers, Pharm.D., BCPS, CPP
Director of Pharmacy
Will joined Asheville Specialty Hospital in December 2014 as Director of Pharmacy. He oversees the medication use process. He graduated with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Shenandoah University and completed his post-graduate residency at Mission Hospital. He received his Board Certification as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist in 2013 and achieved licensure as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner from the North Carolina Board of Medicine in 2016.
Lisa Lister, PT, DPT
Director of Rehabilitation, PT, St, OT & Chaplain Services
Lisa is responsible for the daily functioning, education, and policies and procedures of the Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Chaplain Services departments. She joined Asheville Specialty Hospital team in 2003 as a staff Physical Therapist, and assumed her current position as the Director of Rehabilitation in 2006. Lisa received her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida in 1999. In 2016, she finished her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. She enjoys family time, running, and traveling.
Brenda has served as the Business Manager for Asheville Specialty Hospital since January of 2015. In this role she is responsible for the financial reporting and financial forecasting for Asheville Specialty Hospital. She has more than 20 years of experience in a healthcare setting including Payroll Manager for Carepartners. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a Bachelor of Administration in Accounting. She lives in Asheville with her family and enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.
Jennifer CallowayJennifer is a native of Asheville, NC and has worked in local healthcare for more than 20 years. Jennifer joined Asheville Specialty Hospital in 2003. She received her HR Generalist certificate in 2013 and is the HR and Benefits Coordinator. In this role, she works with department directors to recruit, select and onboard new employees and functions as the Health, Wellness and Retirement plan coordinator for all staff. Jennifer is also the Medical Staff Coordinator for ASH, where she works in cooperation with the Mission Medical Staff Office to ensure physician credentialing and privileging at Asheville Specialty Hospital. In addition, she serves as Executive Assistant to the CEO, Julie Dikos, MSN, RN.
Executive Assistant/HR Coordinator
Laurie Morgan, MPH, RRT, RCPLaurie has been a Respiratory Therapist for almost 30 years, with extensive experience in adult Medical-Surgical ICUs, including participating on initiatives led by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. In 2013, she completed a Masters of Public Health because she sees the value of empowering patients and their families to live their best lives, for themselves and their communities, with less time spent in the health care system. Prior to coming to Asheville Specialty Hospital in June 2017, she had the chance to work as a Pulmonary Navigator which provided opportunities to work closely with patients diagnosed with chronic lung diseases (such as COPD), their families, and a multidisciplinary team of caregivers. She is now the Manager for Respiratory Care at Asheville Specialty Hospital and is thrilled that she can help patients realize that they are not defined by their illness. She and her husband live in Asheville with their two children and lots of pets. For fun she likes to run in the woods and serve dinner at Haywood Street Congregation on Sunday evenings.

Stefanie Michaels, BSN, RN, PCCN
Clinical Development Coordinator
Stefanie is responsible for staff orientation, continuing education, and Supply Chain. She has been with Asheville Specialty Hospital for over 13 years and has served as floor nurse and nursing unit supervisor, which has assisted her in fulfilling her current role. Stefanie received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Lees McRae College. She completed her contact hours in Staff Education with Indiana University School of Nursing. She is certified with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) holding her Progressive Care Nurse Certification and is an active member of this organization. Stefanie also holds her instructor certification with the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). She believes in taking a fun and innovative approach to education. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family outdoors.
Gregg DixonGregg has served as Chief Financial Officer for Asheville Specialty Hospital since June 2011. In this role, he is directly responsible for all financial matters for the hospital. Gregg has more than 20 years of financial management experience, encompassing a steady progression of increasing responsibilities and accomplishments. He most recently served as senior vice president of finance for a health care system in New York City for five years. He has also served in several financial leadership roles in Atlanta, Georgia, including CFO for a 120-bed hospital, CFO for the Georgia Medicaid Program and State Health Benefit Plan, and corporate controller and director of internal audit for a large home health agency. He is a graduate of Georgia State University with a bachelor of administration in accounting. He is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant. He serves on a number of boards for local community organizations. He and his wife Terri live in Asheville.
