Our Specialties

Many of our patients are transferred to Asheville Specialty Hospital after a stay in an intensive care unit. Patients needing intensive treatment for an extended period of time are our “Specialty”. Asheville Specialty Hospital is staffed with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)-certified nurses and respiratory therapists. Our multi-disciplinary treatment teams are directed by highly trained physicians and include: nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapy specialists, pharmacists, dieticians and case managers.

ASH has experience and expertise in a wide variety of care including:

• transition from ICU
• pulmonary care (ventilator management and weaning)
• complex wound care
• physical rehabilitation (transitional or sub-acute care) and Speech Therapy
• dialysis
• radiation therapy
• IV antibiotic therapy
• pain management
